RESOLUTION NO. 72

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING HONORABLE RODEL SEVILLA CEREZO FOR HIS OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO OLONGAPO CITY AS CITY COUNCILOR FROM 2007-2013 AND AS VICE MAYOR FROM 2013-2016

WHEREAS, Honorable Rodel Sevilla Cerezo  or “Sir Rodel” as he is fondly called, is an educator, being a high school teacher, handling military training, physical education & computer and also a college instructor;

WHEREAS, Honorable Rodel Cerezo first ventured into public service when he became Kagawad of Barangay Sta. Rita from 1997 – 2007. As Kagawad and Teacher, he pioneered the Computer Learning Center (CLC) of his barangay, teaching basic computer knowledge and  operation for out of school youths and even adults;

WHEREAS, in 2007, Honorable Cerezo was elected City Councilor and re-elected in 2010-2013. He chaired the City Council Committees on Public Safety, Peace and Order, Education, Ethics, House Rules and Privileges, Youth and Sports Development and Transportation;

WHEREAS, Honorable Cerezo being a sports educator and coach, was active in organizing and participating in athletic events in schools and in barangays. As an avid sportsman, he excelled in basketball, lawn tennis, volleyball and other sports;

WHEREAS, Sir Rodel would often accompany delegations or visit venues of sports events participated by Olongapo athletes like the City Meet, Central Luzon Regional Athletic Association (CLRAA), Palarong Pambansa and other sports meets.

WHEREAS, as an educator, Sir Rodel encouraged barangays to start their own computer learning centers and later as barangay learning centers for the under privileged, out of school youths and the marginalized;

WHEREAS, Honorable Cerezo then was thrust into higher office when he was elected as Vice Mayor in 2013. As Presiding Officer, he presided the business and agenda of the City Council;

WHEREAS, despite of his busy government service and teaching profession, Sir Rodel continued his passion for the youth by being an active leader of the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA);

WHEREAS, from Barangay Kagawad of Brgy. Sta. Rita, to City Councilor and Vice Mayor, Rodel Sevilla Cerezo has served a total of  19 years while being a husband, father, son and teacher;

NOW, THEREFORE, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to commend as it hereby commends Honorable Rodel Sevilla Cerezo for his outstanding service to Olongapo City as City Councilor from 2007-2013 and as Vice Mayor from 2013-2016.
