RESOLUTION NO. 40
(Series of 2016)

A RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING 2LT JOEY L. OLAGUER (INF) PA, ONE OF THE MEMBERS OF THE “GABAY-LAYA”, CLASS OF 2016 GRADUATES OF THE PHILIPPINE MILITARY ACADEMY (PMA)

WHEREAS, the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) is the Philippine military school of the Armed Forces of the Philippines known for its long history of preparing only the best Filipino men and women for military service;

WHEREAS, the “Gintong Anak Ng Bayan Alay Ay Buhay Para Sa Kalayaan” or “Gabay-Laya” Class of 2016 is one of the smallest PMA batches in decades. Among the 20,201 applicants who took the examination for the class 2016, 123 of them entered the academy but only 50 cadets completed the course on schedule;

WHEREAS, 2LT Joey Olaguer who ranked 23rd from among the sixty three (63) graduates under the “Gabay-Laya” Class of 2016 has chosen to serve and be part of the oldest and largest branch of Armed Forces of the Philippines;

WHEREAS, 2LT Joey is the youngest of the two (2) siblings of proud parents Maximo and Josephine Olaguer, both residents of Barangay Old Cabalan, Olongapo City;

WHEREAS, “Joey” as he is fondly called by his friends, is a product of St. Joseph College having earned both his primary and secondary education in the said institution that provided him with the solid academic and moral foundation;

WHEREAS,   2LT Olaguer, one of the few Olongapeños who graduated in the prestigious Philippine Military Academy, deserves admiration and much appreciation and should be congratulated by his fellow Olongapeños;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of City Councilors Eduardo J. Piano and Eyrma Yvette D. Marzan-Estrella, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present;

RESOLVED,  AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to congratulate as it hereby congratulates, 2LT Joey L. Olaguer (INF) PA, one of the members of the “Gabay-Laya” Graduates, Class of 2016 of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA).
